We are thrilled to announce that we’ve been recognized on the 2018 list of Canada’s Best Workplaces™ in Technology. Read on to learn how our small business with humble Victoria, BC roots achieved this certification.
Health and Wellness
Dolphins and their families reap the benefits of a Health Trust Plan and stay fit thanks to paid gym memberships. Lounge areas and a nap room encourage rest as much as work. A fully equipped kitchen right above a grocery store result in many “home cooked” lunches and spontaneous meal-share opportunities. Sit-stand desks and ergonomic office chairs ensure Dolphin comfort and health.
10X Our Learning
Smart Dolphins is as much an education and training company as we are a Technology Success Partner. We continuously invest in a library (Kindle and paper), external training, industry certifications, local seminars and international conferences. We are encouraged to have at least one quarterly educational goal and these are supported in whatever ways possible to ensure success. We spend a minimum of one hour per week of paid time on education and schedule recurring team training meetings. “Smart” in Smart Dolphins isn’t just part of a brand. “Always Be Growing” is a Core Value and our educational systems are building strong differentiation into who we are becoming tomorrow.
A healthy Dolphin is a successful Dolphin.
Strong Sense of Ownership
Our company-wide “Porpoise Incentive Program” (“PIP”) provides between 5% and 30% of our compensation. This variable bonus system is based on company profitability. When the company does well, we are likewise rewarded handsomely – well above industry norms. This mindset is supported with regular “Building Business Gurus” sessions at company meetings so all employees learn the fundamentals of business success and know how they can specifically change their own contribution. Financial reward is also offered in the form of RRSP matching and a Health Trust Plan.
