Not-For-Profit case study
Technology services for non-profit organizations
Your non-profit organization works tirelessly to achieve its mission. It is important to work with partners that understand and believe in your mission. We know a solid technology foundation and roadmap can help your organization exceed your goals.
In this case study, we share how a Victoria, BC-based not-for-profit organization recognized the need to invest in IT in order to provide support services to a growing number of immigrants and refugees through building networks, education, employment training and arts programming. Founded in 1971 by several ethnic and cultural groups to form the first Folkfest, they have since grown to over 100 employees.
IT Challenge
The organization was approaching a critical point in which they were very quickly outgrowing their technology. A 7-year old server combined with an increased number of computer users and a reliance on email was overworking their IT infrastructure resulting in decreased efficiency and increased IT costs.
Managed IT Solution
Their expansion over the last few years generated a renewed investment in IT. A replacement of their old server and a much-needed migration to Office 365 resulted in increased efficiency, reduced IT costs and complexity while providing ample storage for scalable growth. The leadership team recognized that cost, security, improved collaboration and simplicity were of utmost importance.
Offering expert results
Cost Management: In any organization, predictable IT costs are necessary for short and long-term budgeting and planning. Now, This NFP, no longer diverts funds to maintaining outdated server hardware and software rather, they utilize our proactive process to support them in budgeting and planning of operational IT expenses.
Improved Collaboration: Over one hundred employees can now easily and securely share files with co-workers, clients and partners. Our software solutions enabled them to collaborate on documents that are always current and accessible remotely and, on any device.
Simple Efficiently: Updated and simplified IT has boosted employee morale resulting in decreased day-to-day IT service desk calls and minimized IT stress.
Implementation: Smart Dolphins managed the implementation of these changes over a 3-week period without any unscheduled downtime. Meticulous planning, specialized software tools, and on-site workstation visits ensured that systems were operational during the workday.
IT Support: This Victoria non-profit organization now truly benefits from the results of proactive IT. And, with Smart Dolphins IT as their ongoing technology support partner, they can move forward with peace of mind that their network will support their operations as they continue to grow.
The Smart Dolphins team have been excellent problem solvers and collaborators helping improve the organization’s hardware and software solutions issues. One of their staff team works out of our offices two days a week to help resolve issues quickly and to support staff technological learning. As well, over the past year, the Dolphins have been working closely with us on the planning through all the complexities of our impending move from three offices to one in Nootka Court. Of particular note, and of great value to us, is the way the Smart Dolphin team are able to pull in the expertise of their different team members to resolve problems.
