If you like shortcuts you should be aware of Jump Lists. These handy, customizable menus were introduced with Windows 7. They allow quick access to application specific tasks, recently used files/locations, and favorites. They are very easy to use and require only a few steps.
Step 1 – Pin your programs
The first thing you need to do to take advantage of Jump Lists is pin a program to your taskbar. The easiest way to do that is to run your application, right click its task bar icon, and choose “Pin to Start.”
Step 2 – Start using Jump Lists
Now that your application is pinned to the task bar you can right click it when it’s open or closed. When you do this the Jump List appears. Most Jump Lists will have a Recent/Frequent section and a Tasks section. From the Recent/Frequent section you can right click your favorite files/websites and select “Pin to this list”. This will create another section at the top called “Pinned”. These pinned items are a quick and easy way to access your most used files.
