Ultimate Trust
Category : Business | Posted : Sep 4, 2025
For as long as I can remember, I’ve carried this quiet sense that things will, somehow, work out. Not always as planned. Not without setbacks or anxiety. But that there’s a current underneath all of it. With mistakes, successes, the hard stretches too, life keeps moving forward in a meaningful way. I didn’t always have a name for it. A friend once called it “Ultimate Trust,” and that stuck. It’s not blind faith and it’s not passive optimism either. It’s the choice to keep building, keep leading, even when the picture isn’t clear, and to believe there’s some kind of wholeness to the journey… even the messy parts. But I don’t always stay in touch with it. There are seasons when I get caught up in the drama of the moment, or times when leadership feels super heavy. Most of life isn’t made up of big turning points; it’s meetings, projects, habits, conversations and it’s easy to forget that deeper sense of trust is there at all. Sometimes I have to remember to go looking for it again. And that’s extra hard at 2am with a whirling mind! Anxiety doesn’t vanish when I find it. I still worry about decisions, about people, about the future. But the trust sits underneath the worry like a bit of a crashmat. I can feel both at once: the tension of wanting things to go well, and the acceptance that I can only steer so much. People have told me they’ve felt this from me in some tough moments (although, not all tough moments): when we’ve lost a client, when plans fell apart, when the room was tense. I don’t think of it as a strength exactly, more like a posture I return to. I try not to let fear or frustration set the tone. Ultimate Trust can also bring a certain levity. Almost like watching myself play the game while I’m in it. Building with good intentions, but knowing the rules will change, pieces will break, and not everything will stick. That’s part of it. That’s also what makes it worth playing. Life is pretty incredible that way. Ultimate Trust doesn’t mean expecting “happily ever after”. It just keeps me moving with a steadier hand, believing the path itself matters, even when it twists, even when it hurts, even when I can’t see very far ahead. Business (and life) gives me plenty of reasons to doubt, but Ultimate Trust keeps me from mistaking a rough patch for the whole story and, with that, it keeps me leaning forward.
