Smart Dolphins is a local Victoria company that is in the business of developing and maintaining small businesses technology solutions. More specifically, we service our clients’ hardware, software, data and connectivity needs. We also develop and maintain web sites and databases. We even do Windows!

Smart Dolphins’ philosophy is founded on people and solid relationships. We strive to create long term, mutually beneficial relationships that are built on trust and the delivery of exceptional service.

In order for a business solution to have value, it must be reliable, professional and cost-effective. Through clear communication, innovation and exceptional customer service, we add extraordinary value to every organization with which we work.

Proof of our value is found from an average score of 4.61 out of 5 from the 91 Client Feedback Surveys submitted to us in 2002. Considering the complexity and challenge of the industry, we are very proud of these results.

Company History

Although still a young company, Smart Dolphins has come a long way since Dave Monahan started up in May of 2000 out of a back room of his house. We have many recent memories of building computers on kitchen tables, holding staff meetings in odd places and very high cell phone bills. As we continued to grow, the benefits of being a virtual company were outweighed by those of a central office. Technology can only take a virtual office so far, building a solid business infrastructure and a strong team environment required us to come together in an office. Smart Dolphins now calls 1075 Alston Street home. Located just outside of downtown and with plenty of room for expansion (including an executive boardroom), the office is being well utilized.

The Smart Dolphins story is even more notable considering the lifetime of the company has been during challenging economic times. There have been several bumps in the road, but our dexterity and perseverance has navigated us to success.

Recently, the company has incorporated and Darren Jarvie has partnered with Dave Monahan. It was a natural marriage for the two entrepreneurs given the perfect match of Dave's extensive business education, great vision and leadership abilities and Darren's twenty years of business operations and customer service experience.

Our Future

The focus since the beginning has been to build Smart Dolphins, not at the breakneck speed of the stereotypical tech company, but at a manageable, methodical and natural pace. Rather than looking for short-term profits, we have taken the approach of investing in the future to grow the business. Developing a solid business infrastructure, such as an extensive database, has always been a high priority. So has spending the time to find the right people to join the team.

We are planning on continuing to build on the business and our accumulating momentum to reach our vision as a company. Below is an overview of that vision and a brief look at our immediate goals.

Our greater purpose (beyond simply maintaining viability) is to maximize society's ability to fully leverage technology by:

The leader in personalized, quality, comprehensive technology service for small business in Victoria by 2006.

After reaching that goal we're going to look to expand throughout North America, possibly by franchising. Beyond that the ocean is the limit.
